Still NOT getting the MPGs I'd hoped for!!!
Man, i have a 2002 4.6 with all the mods in my sig, when i go back home to Tampa from Knoxville, all interstate, i set cruise at 70-73mph and i get between 18 and 20, with the most being 21 (once). My truck has 3.55 gears as well... even with 4x4 you should get better.. which you already know..
yea tell me about it,,,if Str8tsix can get 15 mpgs with 35" tires, a suspension lift, a body lift and 3.55 gears I SHOULD be at 17-18 Highway with my mods!!! Ahhhhhhh!
Tarajerame---you will be my hero if you find the part number for me! I've wanted that TB spacer off ever since I bought the truck!----DirtySCREW

Okay school me on why the throttle body spacer would limit anything. I totally agree it doesn't help at all(because air is metered) but how does it hurt??? The air is metered to work with air/fuel mixture so how can this hurt???

it restricts the air flow... hence the whistling noise...
But in a nut shell, the length of runner has minimal effect on noise, especially in this form where its appx 1" or whatever those things are.
I get 14.5-15 with mostly highway/interstate driving. I don't drive like a grandpa by any means, but I don't pretend I'm in a sports car either. I think I could get 15-15.5 easy if I drove a little more reserved.
Edit: Oh, and I have a 2003 Supercrew 5.4 with 3:73LS. Mods are in the sig. I was getting 13 when i first bought it. After I did a tune-up on it, It went up to 14-14.5 and now with exhaust, tunes its at the 14.5-15(which i might add did not change with the bigger tires i just added 1k miles ago.)

I used to get an average of about 13 with the 5.4 v8 and 2wd before the lift, now I'm around 11 but I must say I don't have to light of foot haha. Your tires even tho they are stock size, are heavier than the stock tires also so thats another reason you get reduced gas mileage
Mileage seems normal if you ask me. How many miles on your truck? If mileage is getting up there, might be due for new 02's and a good TB cleaning, MAF cleaning, IAC cleaning, Injector cleaning etc....
With that said, I pretty much fill up at the same station every time...sometime even the same pump! So it looks to me that I'm consistent, but just with bad mileage. What really gets my goat is that HIGHWAY mileage is hardly any better than CITY mileage!!!! The ONLY vehilce I know that this is true is a diesel. Explain that one to me---DirtySCREW
