just about lift time! final questions

well the time has come that i have days off and nice weather, so my lift plans are drawing closer. i have 4 inch blocks to put in the rear, the shop is making custom longer U bolts, i'm going to crank my torsion bars to bring the front end up around 2 inches, and the shop will align it.

all in all, it will cost me about 200 bucks. are there any last minute pointers or advice from you guys before i give it a go?

thanks!

Not really. You may wanna spray the u-bolts and torsion bar bolts with penetrating oil.

You do know that it won't be anywhere close to level right? I can't even get mine level with a 3" block in the rear.

well my truck sits level right now on the stock torsion setting and stock 2 inch blocks back there. so if i increase the rear by 2 inches, and i can get 2 inches out of the torsion crank, i don't see how that can't end up ok.

It might work for you, all I know is my truck with the torsions cranked to the max and 3" blocks isn't level. And its not like my bars are worn out-- I just rolled over 37k miles

I have a better question: Why crank the torsions? Numerous people have done it, and fair amounts complain about the harsh ride.

id buy the torsion keys and see how you like that with out the blocks, 4" blocks would be a big difference in the height of the front compared to the back.

I cranked my torsion bars up just over 2" in the front and have 4.5" of block lift in the rear. My truck isn't level but carries about the same rake as it did before I touched the suspension. But I wanted to keep my rake as I hate the "dog dragging its but on the carpet" look that comes with a heavy load in the back or when people intentionally lift the front higher than the rear. But that may just be me. I may level my truck out once I get an air bag system in place to compensate for it though.

You have the 04, from what I have noticed, has a lot more rake to the front than the 97-03 from the factory. I have a buddy who has a stock 04 and I swear it looks like he would need a 4" lift in the front just to level it out.

I would guess, fully cranked torsions could probably use a 4" block in the back if you wanted to retain the factory rake. But level would probably be more of a 2.5-3" block. I always try to keep a tad bit of rake.

yeah i like a bit of rake too. with how mine sits now (stock) it's pretty much level. i have the fiberglass tonneau cover on the back and about 100lbs of tools and gear in the box at all times, so i think that helps it squat a bit. unfortunately due to my other thread involving me smacking up the front end of the truck, the lift may have to wait a bit. thankfully my girlfriend's dad got me cheap parts so it won't totally ruin me to fix it.

thanks for the comments guys, keep em coming!
