Taking out coil packs and drying cylinders
I have a 2000 f150, 4.6 L. I got some water in the engine off roading, hooked up a code reader/scanner tool and got
P0174 system too lean (bank2)
P0306 and P0308 - cylinder 6 and 8 misfires detected.
Now i've been told by some on the site and my uncle who is a mechanic I could pull the coil packs and blow compressed air into there and dry everything out, and the truck will drive better again.
How hard is this to do? I tried to download a shop manual but it won't load. Also may I mess up any thing like the spark plugs being stuck in the head? Besides an oil change I've never done much of anything to an engine like this. Any help or direction in this would be greatly appreciated

Some 2000 model years had coil packs, some had COP (CoilOverPlug) systems in the 4six. All 01's have COP's.

With Coil Packs = You'll have plug wires. A pack runs more than one cylinder.
With COP system = Dedicated coils, no wires. One coil per cylinder over the plugs.

Unbolt the cops, blow everything dry with compressed air, and reinstall the cops using dielectric grease. If it still misses, you may need to replace one or more cops. Get the missing stopped before you address the lean code.
Blow the air toward the spark plug? Should I pull the spark plugs out? And last where do I apply the dielectric grease?
Sorry for all the questions I did a little run through today seeing if I could just clean them off a little but the truck is still bucking a bit so Ill do all these other steps

You might wanna thro on some safety specs. No tellin what may jump out at yuh. The plugs sit down inside a chamber (plug chamber). So yea, don't remove the plugs or you'll force debris into your cylinders. Chambers are about 3-4" deep, -that's why you need compressed air to dry them out, - if wet.
Pay special attention to #3 and 4 cylinders. They may have coolant in the chambers, if you have a heater core line leak. These leaks can be hard to determine. The return line leaks under pressure (pressure burst) because of a brass reducer incorporated into the line. Purpose of the reducer is to protect the heater-core from said burst pressure. Anyway, leaks are usually intermittent and evaporate making it hard to tell. Just something to be aware of before tackling this one.
Also, when all is said in done, there's a real good chance it will run the same. Expect this. Once a coil is smoked, they usually are toast. So, I would have a set of coils on hand. Good coils are cheap, - get them from here tho and purchase the 10 pack or 508's, you'll be glad you did in the future. -

I was looking at that exact page, and thinking it would be usefull to have 10 instead of 8. I learned alot looking into this problem, alot of people run into it with out even doing things like off roading, so im sure ill need to change more then the average daily driver. I appreciate all the help, this site is great with every question I have I learn a hell of alot thanks for all the help everyone!
