New to Board

I'm new to the board but not new to Ford trucks. I currently own a 2001 F150 Screw (see pic below) that I bought new in June of 2000. Over the years I've been tempted to trade up to new one, but could never bring myself to do it, I like this truck too much. Now that it's 10 years old with a little over 100,000 miles on it, I'm looking to do some major upgrades (lift, wheels, tires, brakes, etc.). In the coming months I will be asking for advice and just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I'm really looking forward to the build!

I'm leaning towards a 6" Fabtech suspension lift, 20" KMC Chrome Rockstars, 35" Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's to start with and then maybe a big brake kit and lower gears later on. How does that sound?

Welcome!

6" fabtech is a superb lift, the only problem that I personally have with it is the price. I understand it is your budget and what you want to do with your truck but if you don't mind losing an inch, Rough Country offers a lift for far less. Not sure if you plan on installing it yourself but bought alone its 1 thousand dollars less which could be spent in other areas such as possibly an exhaust setup, new headlights, taillights, or other things such as regearing.

The ideas sound good to me. Some things that I recommend for a cheap addition to the truck is painting the wiper cowls and honeycomb black. I think black and red is a very sexy look!

Gotts mod is real cheap and an easy way to get very similiar power to a CAI.

I just got recommended to take my side moldings off and i think it looks a lot more fierce without them. My buddy has a truck like yours but black and taking the lil decal stripe underneath the window made it look real good

Either way, I wanna see what you do to this truck ! I love the styles, and envious of 4 doors

Indeed, it does sound like you have a plan. I too am envious of the 4 doors, but my SCab suits my every need. No riders in the back.

As far as trading up... often you will read on here how they wish they hadn't, or trade back down. Post plenty of pics of the transformation. Nice truck to mod out.

Welcome to F150o.

I'll check out the Rough Country, thanks for the tip. I'll also think about painting the cowl & honeycomb as well. I would be leery about removing any moldings or decals, the truck has been sitting out in the Texas sun for 10 years and although the paint has held up very well, I'm thinking it's a little faded. If/when I repaint, the striping & moldings as well as most badging would go (I really like a nice clean look).

No prob on the tip, I just figured 1 inch (to me) isn't worth a thousand bucks, I would rather save it and go body lift or something on top, if i had money like no other, then definately.

Yea I totally understand that too, Oregon is far different than texas. Taking my moldings/decals off, other than in the morning the *dew* on the truck is only way to notice where anything might have been, and thats only because I haven't waxed. If it is something you consider doing you can always ask a car dealership or details if they think it would blend together.. Maybe take things off and get a super detail on it, that way it looks cleaner and maybe suits you a little more. I love the color of your truck though.

Definately keep us posted!

How do you like your RCD lift and if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you? When I get a lift, I want something that is good quality. I don't plan on ever getting rid of this truck, so I want something that will last.

I love my Rough country, When I ordered mine I believe I got the nitro shocks since thats all they had in. Cost like 1020 ish for mine shipped, and installed at local lift shop I spent 1616 all together. I have had mine for like a month and love it so far, a lot of my friends like the look of it, but I dont know much of a difference. Majority of my friends recommended it to me though as many of them use it
