Problem with the truck

I have a big problem with my truck. i was pulling my boat home from the boat ramp today and my truck started to cut out on me. It would get up to about 1500 rpms and then it would drop back down to idle and loose all power. We got it into a parking lot when it died on me then it started back up ran fine for a few minutes and did the same thing. Its got the 5.4 with no mods. Any ideas would be much appreciated

Codes?
Maintainence?
Milage?
Could be anything we need a little more info.
Just off the top I would check the fuel pressure and filter. Or if it has the fuel pump module (my spelling aint too good) you could have dunked it when you pulled the boat out of the water.
Can only guess right now.

Its got 122000 miles on it it just happened today so havent had hooked up to a computer a check engine light didnt come on and when i backed it in i didnt even get the tail pipe wet so i doubt anything under the truck got wet. it would only cut out when it was in gear but i go ahead and check those.

i took it to autozone and when they looked at there were no codes and now it will barely run when i push lightly on the gas pedal. Anybody have any ideas on what it could be?

How do the cats look after you run it a bit, sounds like it could be plugged.
Try this link and see if it fits. http://www.aa1car.com/library/converter.htm

I would think that would be something you would notice over time cuz it wouls slowly clog and it also seems like it bein staved for air or fuel almost.

Perhaps, My kid had a problem with his when he was at school and it seemed that it wasn't that gradual. Did you check the link?

I think there were some simple tests in the link you can do. This may or may not be your problem, I offered it b/c it sounded like the one my kid's Bronco had.

If you can get them loose, you can loosen the manifold to pipe bolts and take it for a short spin. It will throw a code, but if it runs better then you have a restriction in the exhaust. Like I said may or may not be it, but it's cheap to free to check it out!
Good luck. Jim

Also have you checked the fuel pressure or changed the filter? That could do it too.
You can rent/borrow the tools at the parts store, also cheap to free to do.
I remember being 16 too, I am 16 also X 3.625! ha ha!

Good luck and post what you find>
