Rancho Shocks for Leveled F150
Rancho Shocks for Leveled F150
Getting some new shocks soon and looking at the Rancho RS5000 series.
Their site calls for RS5372 front and RS5234 rear for 97-03 with the front lift.
Anybody have this set up?

I had new Rancho's installed on the front when I had mine cranked up because of the height extension . The rears are factory Rancho's, as far as I can tell. I'll check the model # in the morning
Edit: checked and I have the RS5237's up front : http://www.jegs.com/i/Rancho/801/RS5237/10002/-1, and ( I assume) factory FX4 Rancho's in the back. They are rusty so I can't get a model # off of those. I have about 2"s of lift in the front w/torsions cranked up

Not real sure what you mean by "front lift" on your truck?? Do you simply mean you have the torsion bars cranked up to level the front? If so, this changes nothing as it's not really a "lift". You still need/require the exact same shock as a stock replacement. Look up the part number for a stock 97-03 (with no lift) and that's what you need.
not sure why rancho would make a shock for 1-2.5 in. of front lift if cranking torsion or using keys didnt effect the travel of the shock............. http://www.gorancho.com/shock_lookup...odels&x=50&y=9
When I got my torsion keys installed, the shop said it was about 2" of lift (torsion crank) to level it. They also said I needed to get shocks because of the extra travel length, as in the factory's would be extended at the max with the crank. Makes sense to me, but I have been wrong before. And they are RS5237's that they put on. Rides fairly well, I think. Now I just need to get the backs done
OK, first mistake is the aftermarket torsion keys. They allow for way too much cranking and can put an extreme angle on your CV joints and ball joints. Plus you'll be riding around almost on the bump stops. Simply cranking up the stock keys, even to the max, will prevent this from occurring.
They also don't know what they're talking about telling you that. Your truck did NOT develop more suspension travel from simply cranking the torsion bars. The ONLY thing this accomplishes is where the truck sits in it's stock range of suspension travel. Even the "extended length" shocks from Rancho for trucks with this mod is a sales gimmic. But, there's nothing wrong with the ones they put on...they'll work just fine.
If you really want a detailed break down of how the appearance of lift works, let me know and I'll write it up.

Being a newbie of the full size, mod it out truck scene at the time, maybe I did waste some money at the time. End result is the same... I got the rise I wanted and it rides just fine. Just Sayin'
The front suspension's travel is limited by the bumpstops. A longer shock is not needed for cranking up the torsion bars just like a shorter shock isn't needed for backing off the torsion bar preload.
Going out and looking at it... I can see both of your's point. I guess I can only say that I got BS'd on that one. Either way, I don't go to them anymore 'cause after 4 tries, they still couldn't order me the correct Baer front rotors... even with me giving them the part #. And I found out they were charging me near double what I could get the pair for online. Anyways.............. I have what I have and it seems to be ok. Been like that for nearly a year now.
