Looking at another Truck, Need help

its a 97 F150 with the 4.6, I called him and he said that there is no dents and no rust beside the underbody. Minnesota winters. The Ac doesn't work. Any common problems and what could be wrong with the AC

the only two problems i know of that are relatively common are the "Phantom Wipers" that come on when they want and stop at their own leisure too...mine did and all you have to do to fix it is pop off the wiper control **** (on the turn signal stalk), clean out the grease and put new Dielectric Grease in it and re-assemble. took me all of 15 minutes and i was moving slow.

the other problem is the dreaded spark plug blowout problem. just pay attention to your truck. if you ever hear an "exhaust leak"...check the torque on your spark plugs...one might be loosening up. and when you install new spark plugs, use anti seize and torque them to the right spec...this is critical.

otherwise, they are great trucks. i have a '97 SCab with the 4.6/5-speed. it's a great truck. as for the A/C...could be anything. but most likely it developed a freon leak and needs to be repaired and recharged to the proper spec. it's really impossible to tell without looking at it.

good luck!

when you install new spark plugs, DO NOT use anti seize and torque them to the right spec which is 28 ft/lb.
Fixed that for you, 5.

To the original poster - why did you start a new thread? I see you took a pass on it, smart move.
