How to paint my grille insert?

I have a 2001 that has the gray honeycomb insert that has faded and wanted to repaint it. Should I leave it on or remove it? How hard is it to remove? And what type of paint should I use? or any other tips you would reccomend? thank you !

i don't have the honeycomb insert...just the stock XL grille...i spent about 35 minutes masking off the whole front end and painted mine Krylon Fusion Satin Black...i think it looks pretty good and my friend seems to like it too...so it's really up to you...you feel like doing some masking or removing a grille?
