What fuel/gas mileage to expect 2002 Screw 4x4 5.4

Went to buy a 5.4 lariat screw 4x4 today and it was nothing that they described to me over the phone, so I wasted 5 hours round trip driving for nothing, but wait, maybe not..

on the way Home i see a mom & pop used car lot with 4 screws in the front.

they had a 2002 blue king ranch 4x4 screw with 120k
he said 9500 but by the time i left he said 8750, I told him until the bank redid my paperwork I couldn't make any kind of decision, but 8750 seems good for a king ranch 4x4 especially with 120k, he may even take 8k since he lowered the price without me trying to haggle any at all

but my worry is, and I guess i never thought about it is, what mileage do these get, I am light footed like grandpa, I figured 16mpg with country driving was expected, my buddy says probably 10-12 is what i'll get

truck had a K&N cone filter and dual exhaust

I average 14mpg mixed driving in my '99 5.4 4x4 Scab. Very light footed driving, but I also have the 3.73 gears and 33" MT's...

so stock, with stock tires, and stock gearing, is it possible to get 17 mpg on mostly hwy driving?

with a 4x4 5.4?

what is stock gearing for a 4x4 anyway? hopefully 3.55 for my sake

I had a 2 wheel drive 05 crewcab lariat before and I got 18-19 all day with my driving, it was also 5.4

Each truck is different. With no apparent differences, one might get 13 on the highway and another get 18. My son in law has a 98 extended cab 4x4 with a 4.6 and the best he's seen on the highway is 15.

If you are concerned about gas mileage, maybe you shouldn't be looking at full size crew cab trucks with relatively large V-8 engines and 4x4. No offense, but that's the way it is. My V-6 single cab short box 2wd with a stick doesn't get very good gas mileage either - highway is anywhere from 16 to 21 depending on ethanol % in the gas, speed, and winds.

03 5.4 screw with CAI, 3" exhaust and a medium foot. Have NEVER gotten 300 miles to a tank. Usually get 250 to a tank. The max ive got is 13 MPGs. 12.5 is the norm. 305/50/20s dont help the mileage factor either. Hoping the 275/45/20s bring me to 300 without me having to drive like an 80 yr old man.
