High-Mount Cargo Lamp Bulb Receptables are Melting!

The receptacles where the 912 bulbs plug in are melting just for the cargo lamp bulbs. The brake light one is okay.

Anybody else experience this?

What's the easiest and most cost effective fix?

Thanks...

i would put in a new light assy. its possible your light socket had high resistance which caused the heat to melt the socket over time corrosion builds up .

mine were did it too. those bulbs just generate a crap load of heat. another plus to swap them to LED bulbs.

i bought a new harness from Ford and put it it. no melting yet. (knock on wood)

just look up what bulb number is used for the cargo lights, and go to v-LEDs.com and order some LEDs.

Sorry for all the newbie questions, just got the truck Friday and I want it right.

I paid $79.00 for my Recons from my 4x4 shop... http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?p...97-03&p_cat=32

Ebay has them from $25.00 on up depending on the style
