what about the the fuel pump control module, back above the spare tire.
are not they known for corrosion issues where they mount?

or don't that apply to they early models?

A 1997 doesn't have that module.

Just because fuel came out when the pump was turned on, does not mean it will pressurize the fuel rail.

If you have a code for the CHT, maybe you need to check that also.

Right , it has a Fuel Tank Pressure sensor on top of the tank between the pump and the rear vent.

Test pressure and regulator. If it's on the low side, replace filter and check again.

Pressure is always first, - OP needs at least a Chilton's manual- or a Haynes. As it stands, he doesn't have a clue.

Right, he can borrow one of those. It does sound like he can afford a manual, filter and fuel pressure gauge. All good investments lol.

Final verdict: crank position sensor. The sensor was on tight but was not connected properly. As I suspected it was related to the compressor repacement job. Glad to have her back on the road. Thanks for all the input along the way.
