Good Year Duratrac

I thought that i should start looking at tires before winter hits and i really like the look of the Good Year Durarac. I have read lots of reviews and they seem to be a great tire, but my only concern that i haven found an answer too is how well do they wear??? will i get 45-50 thousand miles out of a set? thanks for any help here, i would hate to spend almost 200 a tire and then they not last. thanks guys

I seriously doubt you'll get that kind of mileage from a traction tread. I'd bet you'll see no more than about 35K if you keep inflation where it should be, alignment is in order and you don't drive them hard.

You might look at the option of using them only in the winter if you have rear wheel drive. Though it will entail another pair of wheels it will limit the wear and prolong the number of years you'll be able to use them.

thanks for the reply. they are supposed to be an at tire. but i dont know what they will wear like. my truck is primarily a work truck and i am hoping to get a car to do most of my summer driving with so that should prolong the life of any tire i buy. but i do need something that will be great in the snow and mud and is also a good street tire. i really dont want to spring for a second set of rims unless i find a cheap set somewhere. i like the dayton timberlines and the nitto terra grapplers and i have a set of goodyear at/s tires right now but they all lack in the off road department a little. i am not a wheeler, but i am a farmer so i need a good work tire that i wont get stuck in.

Everything I've heard about that tire is great and can't imagine any reason at all why you couldn't get 50K plus out of those tires. Like you said, it's an AT tire. I'd go with it. All these guys jumping on here telling how horrible the mileage is on some of these tires...I blame them not the tires. I've got 50K out of my last set of BFG Mud T/A's and 60K out of my last set of Terra Grapplers (My dad got 80K from a set). On both sets of my tires, I swapped them out from boredom long before the tread was gone.

All these guys?
Just me so far, and in any case there are enough reports of 25K miles or so mileage from the Duratracs to lead me to believe 35K will be quite good on them. Mileage, IMHO, will be closer to the Wrangler MTs than the Wrangler ATs.
