please help with transmission
Ok here is the situation that I am in. I had taken my truck to Ford for a flashing OD light and was told that I had a bad speed sensor. They then charged me 100 dollars for about a half hour worth of work, and then wanted me to pay another 200 to change the sensor. I said no and took the truck home and changed the sensor with a used one that should be good. Well, that fixed my problem for about 150 miles and I got the light back again. So then I took it to a shop where I was dropping off my cousins car and they plugged it in for free and told me that it said there was something wrong with the wiring harness, so i changed the plug (solder and shrink wrap and electrical tape) because the one in the truck had a missing tab on one side of it and didn't hook up right. this fixed my problem for about 100 miles or so. I then took the truck in for a tranny drain and filter change and had them plug it in and they gave me the code p1500 0r 1505 (cant remember which) and said it was a bad gear on the output shaft of the transfercase which they wanted about 200 bucks to do. Again I said no and did it myself (6 bucks and about 15 minutes) and I still have the light. The light doesnt come on for about 15 minutes (about how long it takes everything down there to get hot) and then it will only go away for about a minute when you turn the truck of and back on untill you let it set and get cool again. Any ideas?? im stumped at this point I want to replace the sensor, but I need the money more for gas right now so it will be awhile before i get a brand new one. Any help is greatly appriciated.
Oh the truck is a 97 4x4 with the 4.6 and electronic shift on the fly (on the dash) BW 4406 transfercase.

thats the problem, i dont know that it is the sensor that is bad. it came out of the truck with the old transfercase, so i thought it was good. Putting in a new sensor my just eliminate it as the problem. any ideas as to what might be heat sensitive since it seems to respond to how hot the underside of the truck is?
