New user - need help with ignition

I am by no means a mechanic and I have a problem that me or none of my friends can fix. I recently bought a 98 f150 4x4. It ran great for about 3 weeks and then just quit on my wife one day about a month ago and hasn't ran since. There is no fire at the spark plugs. We tried changing coil pack, crankshaft position sensor, cam shaft position sensor, we've traded out the whole air intake system, we rented a scanner from autozone and all it said was what we knew, no fire to the plugs. I checked all the fuses and swapped around all the relays in the distribution box on the driver side under hood. I checked to make sure the fuel cut off switch in the passenger foot panel was pushed (although I know this has nothing to do with fire to the plugs). I am at my wits end and can't afford to take it to a shop. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The scanner you rented - was that an OBD-2 scanner or something else? If it was, what were the exact P-codes?

Since yours has COPs , it is a newer model than mine. But on mine there is a supplimental fuse ,relay box attached to the back of the primary ditribution box under the hood. Did you check that box for fuses and relays also?

What were the codes?
No fire to the plugs is not enough to figure out why.
You spent money before there was any "reason" to lead you to do so.

It was not an obd-2 type scanner. I looked for one but couldn't find one to rent. All the scanner, that I had, sent back was no fire to the plugs. I guess the truck would have to be running for this type scanner to give anymore info. It was one that Autozone let me use. Of course, we already knew there was no fire to the plugs when I got it. I was told by someone that when I try to crank the truck, see if the tachometer moved, but they never told me what it meant, if it didn't. By the way, it didn't move but a fraction of an inch (more like a vibration), so if anybody knows what this means, let me know. Also, I already own another 98 f-150 with a 4.6L triton (not 4x4) that runs great. We've traded out many things from under the hood to no avail.

I agree with you, Bluegrass, that's my problem, no fire to the plugs is not enough information, what info do you need, the scanner I rented (or borrowed for a deposit) didn't send any codes. From what I've learned, that would have to come from a obd-2 scanner, I couldn't find an obd-2 that I could rent. The Ford dealers around here want 100 bucks just to put it on theirs, I can't afford that.

You can buy an OBD2 scanner for less than 50 bucks.
