Tire size on 1997 SCab

I'm really wanting to get some wider (and a bit taller) tires for better looks, and performance in the sand. I'm thinking **** Cepek Fun Country II's would be the way to go for sand, but I'm still taking suggestions.

What would you recommend doing to fit 33x15.5s on my truck? It's a 97 SuperCab with the 4.6. I don't have any lift on it and I still have the stock tire size on it. I kind of want to do a 3-4" lift but would that be enough to squeeze those tires on without rubbing? It's not the height that concerns me but the width.

I appreciate all suggestions.

BTW my truck is 4WD and I believe the stock tires are 30x10... Well the metric equivalent anyway.

It's an odd size. Like you said the width is your concern. I'd go ahead and install a 6 inch Fabtech to run that size.

i have a feeling that width may put some serious stress on the front end in day to day... just seems like it to me, but i may be wrong. i have 285/75/16's which are 33x12.50 i believe they work great but im putting 4.10's in at the moment due to the power loss...

Actually a 285/75-16 is closer to a 33x11.50 so those 33x15.50's are gonna be about 4 inches wider.

Yeah, I hear you about the strain on the front end. I have a buddy that put real wide tires on his F250 and he's been having to replace some stuff here and there. I understand that this tire swap will come with a price, but it's what I want to do. I might step the width down a little bit though. Maybe step down to a 33x13.5.

As far as the tires go, I was originally thinking D-ick Cepek Fun Country IIs, but now I'm leaning toward Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radials. Anyone have anything to say about either of these performance in the sand?

Both are manufactured by Cooper Tire and excellent choices. Any good all terrian tire will work great in sand when you drop the air pressure down. I think a 325/60-18 (33x13.00) would be a great size for you on a 10 inch wide wheel. That size would also look great at stock height or with a body lift.
