New master keys for 1999 F150 Tritan 4.6
Hi. I just bought my son his first truck; a 1999 F-150 Tritan 4.6. There is only one master key and it is worn so we have to jiggle to get it to turn the ignition. Would someone let me know the best way to go about getting new master keys? Thanks, David
That's not going to be cheap. The 1999 uses PATS, the keys are chipped. Bring your wallet to the dealer. I think the keys are about $85 each plus programming fees, and you need 2 functional keys to program them yourself.
To replace a master key you will have to go to a dealer. It has a slightly different chip in it than any "secondary" keys have that identifies it to the PATS as the master. Don't believe what any other place tells you: only dealers can make new masters!
