rear seat

I own a 2002 f150 ext cab. I recently put a sub box in the back behind the driver seat. I would like to take out the seat behind the drivers seat.( its a 60/40 split seat) i want to take out the 40. can anyone help me with this?

The seat is fitted with a metal plate which holds the entire seat. It hinges both the 60 and the 40, but they are on the metal sheet which is a solid one piece. There is no way to just take out aprt. You could take the cushion part itself off, but the metal would remain there.

^^^ Thats what I was thinking couldn't remember... but you could make the metal plate rotate in the box you build that would be cool!

Each side should be hinged? On my 99 they are. 60/40 splt and when you fold them forward, the 60 side has 3 hinges and the 40 side has 2 hinges. But there is the bracket/mount that they hinge too. That is all one piece. So you can remove the seat but not the lower portion. Unless you get crazy. I just got done cutting my 60 side down to a 40, so now its 40 and 40 with an empty space in the middle so I could build a 2.5cf enclosure. I have a spare seat so if I ever want to change it back, I just have to pull it from the hinges and swap them.

There was a lot of work involved that you cant see, including cutting the seat foam, cutting the back plate to match, cutting and welding the sub frame inside the seat, stitching the fabric back... etc.
And the sub box in the making. Houses a 12" L5 rear facing, port tuned to 33hz. I have a finished product, just no pics yet. Maybe tomorrow.
