mustang 4.6??

I know there is probly a thread about this already but I cant find it. so what I am wondering is, if the 4.6 in the mustang is the same 4.6 thats in the f150? cause if it is.. then all of my problems trying to find an engine will be solved.

I think the heads are different, and the intake setup is definitely different.

But if you talking block vs. block, then they should be the same, just change cam(s), etc.

majority of 2 valve mustang 4.6's use Romeo heads (6 thread plug holes) and you must use the romeo cam covers everything else will interchange from your truck 4.6 to teh donor mustang motor...

the cams are the same on the 2 valve modular PI motors when they come from Ford

If you want to do an easy swap, you're better off going with a Crown Vic - I have several Mustangs and I work on fleet vehicles (and have done many motor swaps in the past).

To swap a car 4.6 for a truck 4.6 you'll need to change the intake assembly, exhaust manifolds, valve covers and oil pan. Also, the pulleys will need to be changed if your truck has the 8 rib system. There is a possibility you will need to change the oil filter mount, depending on the angle. This is, of course, assuming you're going Romeo to Romeo or Windsor to Windsor.

Guy never emailed me back about the motor but the good thing is It turns out i dont need a new block just a new crankshaft with bearings and it should run, then mayb ill just get rid of the truck and let it be someone elses problem. Some one told me the cams might need some work to? not sure if its true but i could see that making sence

"Only" a crank and bearings? For that much work and effort I'd just throw in a new block. Hell, I bought mine because I was led to believe the head gaskets needed to be replaced. Thankfully they didn't, but I still have a spare engine...

Im 18 with a small amount of cash. A new block isnt in the budget. A crank w/ bearing is $254 and a gasket kit another $200 something (cant remember exactly). Dont get me wrong Id love to do it right while its all apart. Id love to throw a 5.4l in but I cant afford that either let alone even find one in my area. So the new crank w/ bearings and the new gaskets is all I get
