Exclamation 2001 Ford F-150 sputtering/RPMs jumping

Hello! I have been having this trouble for the past 3 months. It snowed where I live and I actually go stuck in my driveway. I will admit that I was gunning it and going into drive and reverse. I finally had to be pulled out by a 4x4. (My next vehicle will be 4x4) My truck started jumping after that snow and I thought I had water in my gas tank. I tried putting stuff in my tank.. and it worked for a little while but then started back up. Then I had my battery checked and it was very low so I replaced the battery. I had the fuel system flushed out, fuel filter replaced and even had some sensor changed out. It usually does it when I first crank my truck or when I am stopped/idle. It is like it wants to go dead and the RPMs start jumping up a little. It's embarrassing because sometimes if I am at a stop light there is a possibility that it could go dead. Worse thing is I am afraid it will stall and go dead turning in front of traffic.

Please.. if anyone knows what could possibly be wrong.. or if there is something else I need to check.. I'm out of ideas and tired of spending money on junk that doesn't work!! Because I am a girl, some of the mechanics around here love to empty my pockets! lol

Has the check engine light come on? If so, go to Autozone and get the codes read.

If it's just an idle issue, your idle air control probably needs cleaning or replacing.

My car was doing this exact same thing awhile back. It turned out to be a Vaccum house at the Air Intake Manifold. I would check all the vaccum hoses around there and see if one is cracked or spreading apart where it meets a connection. Also every now and then carbon build up happens you can take a bottle of Carb Cleaner and spray it through the intake while Reving up the engine. Sounds like it's sucking to much air in though since it happens at idle and your rpms do that. Good luck

That guessing at things will clean out your money in a hurry.
Find a shop that has good reccomendations for working on Ford vehichle, first.
As best I can, from the discription; there are several possibilities.
Water in the fuel, Intake Air Controller is sticking, fuel pump may be intermittant.
The mechanic needs to experience the fault and begin ("testing") to eliminate various possibilities and not just throw parts at it for which you are paying for. Anyone can do that.
Next shop you visit, make this position known up front until you find a shop that will do the work with some type of reason.
Good luck.

You also might want to find out what their warrenty is on if they don't get it right. You might have to pay a bit more but if they don't fix it then they will do it for free is the best way to go.
