ball joint questions

I have 160,000 miles on stock ball joints and it's about time to replace both uppers and lowers. I have access to a 12 ton press. My question is, can I buy just the ball joint for the upper control arm or do I have to buy the entire upper control arm assembly? So far I haven't seen anyone that sells just the ball joint unless you have a Moog control arm. Thanks

Yes you can buy them without the control arms. Also get the ones that have a grease fitting also for longer lasting service.

did ball joints on my truck abt 2yrs ago. why do you want to buy them seperatley? i found it cheaper to get them pressed in with new moog arms for the uppers...the lowers i ordered just the ball joints.

i spent around 600-650 on parts/labor that included an alignment.

check out rockauto.com for parts

I'm going to be doing the labor myself so I'm only paying for parts

I've never seen just a seperate ball joint for the uppers. It's sold as an assembly with the upper control arm.
