Check the tag on the rear differential, theres a metal tag with numbers like 9.75 3ls55 which would be the 9.75" and Limited slip 3.55. Or the tag could read 8.8 3LS55 or 3LS75 depending on what you have.

Yea it will depending on the brake set-up. They all interchange, but if you dont have 4 wheel disks you have to upgrade brake boosters and all that mess to run a 4 wheel disk set-up. If your rear end is howling then I would check the fluid level, but its most likely a bearing going
out.

Oh, and the 9.75 uses a shorter driveshaft than the 8.8 does because the housing of the 9.75 is larger.

Thats because that thing needs more fluid in it man. You are going to lock that sucker up on yourself.

Might want to try adding fluids

If its a 4x4, As long as the gear ratio is the same. So youll have to find a 9.75" with 3.55. If yours isnt LS, I'm not sure if you can use a 9.75" 3.55 LS? And Youll need the shorter drive line.

Nvrmind, its a 2wd. 9.75" 3.55 or 3.75 and the shorter drive line will work.

Why not just rebuild the 8.8 with a nice locker or LS? And, because it's 2wd you can also change the gear ratio if you like.
