2000 Update/build.

After much thought, I've decided to make abit of a thread to document the things I've been doing to my truck.

Rear end swap, as the stocker was on its way out the door, and the cause to a pretty big vibration. I was able to locate one for a 02 f150, with 3.55 and factory limited slip. I was also able to upgrade to disc brakes on the back.

Old on the way out.

New but used.

In, and hooking up the brake lines.

I have since added smoked led tails, third, and tailgate bar from recon, billet grille, and firestone ride right helper springs. I bought the kit for the 04-08 f150, as it mounts under the frame to the inside of the leaf springs. Needing no clearance for the tires. Had to fab a few brackets, and remove the 2 inch spacer/bump stop block. So the truck sits pretty close to level, with a slight rake at 15 psi.

More pictures to come.

I tried finding a 9.75, but unfortunately no wrecker around here had one. So I unfortunately had to get another 8.8.

Those pictures were from a month or two ago. The roads were ****. And thanks about the lab, best dog I've ever had.

Drum brakes are awesome lol. Hey don't you have to update the booster when you convert? 99+ had larger boosters, - curious if that was an issue?

If thats true, then mine should have the larger booster. I tried talking to the local ford dealership, and basically they said everything was controlled by the abs system. There are no proportioning valves like on older systems. I dont know the whole truth to that, so I basically just swapped in the new rear end and gave it a shot. My braking ability has increased, although I have to change out the rear calipers, as they are not braking square to the rotors.

I am curious as to how well they are braking, as about 2 months of braking and my fronts are starting to squeak do to the pads wearing out. I'm installing new pads and rotors this weekend, so that I can get a good idea on how long the fronts are lasting. If its too quick, I'll look at changing to an 01+ booster/master cylinder as they were equipped with disc's.

And now for some pictures, first is the foglights I mounted behind the grille, still have to finish the wiring, and aim. The drivers side fog may look abit low in comparison to the other, but I haven't fully tightened it down yet, as I've still got to aim.

Second, the billet grille, and fogs for the new lower valance that should be here early next month. Its from Street Scene, and is the model to basically make the bumper look like a lightning bumper cover.

And third is the rear view of the led tails, and the start to the body prep work. Took care of the only major dent, the rest will be a peice of cake.

I love my Recon LEDs Did you get the regular tailgate bar or the Xtreme scanning one?

I just got the "white lighting," as I didn't want any amber on the rear. If that sequential scanning one was just red, I would have went that way instead.

So after a fairly big wait, my new valance showed up. Its from street scene, so I found the number for the fog light kit that street scene lists, and recieved those a few weeks ago. Upon inspection, it seems as though I'll have to space them down about an inch to fit into the holes on the valance. Not really a big problem, but it is another headache.

Here is the valance:

I'm also going to have to make a bracket or two for the billet grille I have.

I just ordered a set of towing mirror extensions, as I've aquired a holiday trailer. I need to get a brake controller, and I was wondering where I have to look to see if it has the spliced pig tails, or if I have to hard wire it in.

It will end up getting turfed. It's cracked on the inside of the drivers side fog light pretty bad.

Had to test fit the new valance as it needed the mounting holes drilled. Got the valance grille mounted as well as the fog lights. Painted both grilles flat black.

Now I'm just waiting to give the truck a repaint.
