5.4 gryphoon owners

Tell me everything I need to know, price, place to purchase, power increase, what does it do for the truck? can I bump shift points up? is it worth the coin? I'm curious but didn't know if it was worth 350 bucks or however much it costs.

Use the Search feature to find out all you need to know about the Gryphon. Yes, it is worth it if you want 30 or so more HP. Yes you can adjust the shift points, but with a custom tune from Bill, you should not need to.

For price and a lot of info, go to www.powerhungryperformance.com

If mine broke, I would order another immediatly.

reason i ask is because tuners always claim big gains but rarely are they seen on gas trucks. thats why I asked. can you feel a real seat of the pants difference or is it mainly just shift points?

My pants were pretty impressed with the 30 HP and the downshifting.

Ed Zachary!

Hello Mr. OP - please also keep in mind the respondents so far all have 5.4L 3V V8 trucks.

As such quality custom tuning as the Gryphon (or SCT) provides can significantly boost HP/Trq even on 87 octane fuel due to the nature of the powertrain ( variable cam timing, etc). To achieve significant results on a pre-04 2V truck will require the use of Premium fuels.

Also - the respondents' trucks all have ECT (electronic throttles - think Toy-Yoda, lol) - and ANY good tune will reduce/eliminate the factory delays in throttle response that folks usually suffer. That is not an issue with yer truck.

However, shifting improvements are at least as important as power, and in that respect EVERYONE notices said improvements,, regardless of octane used!

Good luck sir!

yeah I didn't want 3v responses, I know it makes a much larger difference on the 3v drive by wire trucks, but as for the 2v owners???

i dont have a gryphon but do have the edge and as soon as i hooked it up there was a BIG Difference in acceleration. A gryphon can only make things better imo. Im super happy with the edge, and getting ready to get it converted over so the truck will be that much better.

I also have an edge and I really like. Don't regret buying it at all. Plus I'm going to send in my edge to get upgraded to a gryphon with bills custom tunes as soon as I get the spare money. I got my edge for $150 in the classified section. I suggest looking for a used edge because they can go for pretty cheap.

Bottom line, I like it and am impressed with the edge's canned tunes, I recommend it.
