Oil temp gauge

Ive noticed recently that my oil temp gauge keeps moving around, It goes from hot to cold faster then u can say sh@#, And I have no idea as to why, Not only is it doing this it is also making noises under the hood, It sounds like the fan is hitting the fan shroud but when you look under the hood its not even close. Anyone have An idea if these to problems are related or what any of them may be?

well obviously check the oil level. but i had a problem with mine jumping around also. mine was just the sensor. by the oil filter there is a spot where the wire has a little plug on it and you push it onto the stem. mine was loose. all i had to do was push it on some more and i was good to go. i think it was just the wind that was making the wire move around on the sensor. as for the noises under the hood, just look when you leave it running and see if you can get a better idea as to where it is coming from.

That doesn't sound good. If your indeed losing pressure, your motor doesn't have long to live.

Might be plugged pickup tube or the pump itself. Sounds bad regardless.

Yea, sending units get oil soaked and act goofy if anything at all. BUT your hearing noises as well, that's not good.

the noises dont sound like they are comming inside the engine I popped the hood after posting this and left the truck running it sounds like its comming from the ac condensor? as for the gauge. Is it a temp gauge or pressure gauge? It seems like when ever you let the clutch out and dont give it enough gas intime it goes down, I cant seem to remember if this is normal (and yes I can drive stick I was just messing with it in the driveway if that sounded stupid)

Pressure gauge, - it's down by your oil filter. Yea they get dirty and just the gauge itself gets goofy. Clean it up, but don't hose the engine down.

Now it sounds like you need a compressor, - that's not so bad.

Hmmm These problems started when I hosed the engine down... Any more detail to where it is by the oil filter?

Well I found it. not loose at all.. Wouldnt the engine be running differently with low oil pressure? It has always had high oil pressure...

You hosed the motor down??? That's the worst thing you could do, - shoot anything could go wrong. Do you hose your computer down lol, - well not quite the same, but it might as well be, you can screw everthing up nowadays.

Change the sending unit - it's only about 10 bucks.
