Slight shutter coming from rear end...

Long story short: I have owned the truck for 2 months (2003 FX4). When I test drove the truck before purchasing, it had a horrible shutter when shifting from 1-2. I notified the seller of this and he had the local Ford dealer take a look and it was the rear clutch packs that needed to be replaced. I think he paid $700ish to have it fixed and it shifted smooth as butter.

Now in the past 2 days im getting the same shutter, but much less noticible, and not everytime, but it happens from 1-2 shift. Could they be going bad again? Thoughts on what I should do?

I'd go to car-part.com and find a complete axle. Somethings screwing up the pacs. I've seen them on ebay as well, but the entire axle will most likley be around $600.

They could have put the wrong additive in the rear end. The wife's 02 exploder has the 8.8 LS rear end. A while back I serviced it and put an aftermarket LS additive in with the new fluid. A couple months later it started to shudder on take off. Added the correct stuff from Ford ($5) and it went away.
However, If it only does it at the 1-2 shift, I would suspect the trans, not the rear end. Good luck!

I went in and had Ford look at it. They added more anti-friction to the rear end and the shutter went away. What a relief!
