Wouldn't see why not, but I would reinforce it if possible. My brother has a CB in his truck and got some sort of 360 degree swivel mount for it thats pretty neat that could work too.

definately reinforce it. seems to me though that it may be inconvieniant to have the handle haning down like that. they make one (cant remember brand) but it is all included in the handle and all you have to do is plug it into the 12v outlet. . . i dont have a cb yet, but if i didnt have a full center consol and had the 40/60 split bench, that is what i would be lookin for.

Mount it throught the headliner to a thin board is what I'd do.

Check out where I put mine. It's under the pop out cup holders on the das and doesn't take up much room at all. ( gallery and or first page of link in my sig)

x2. There should be some existing braces already there under the headliner. Find those and get a thin piece of metal like aluminum or tin and use some self tappers or small nuts and bolts to attatch it to them. Fold the headliner back up and just mount the CB to the piece of metal through the headliner. This could also let you hide the power and antenna wires pretty easily.

I got mine mounted under the cup holders, like Jake has done as well, and it takes maybe 2 inches IIRC.

Would a smaller CB fit in the compartment under the shifter column?

Installing that 29 in the middle really won't sacrifice any leg room. I have a 19DX on my '00 reg cab and it doesn't take up any room at all. No matter what CB you get, the depth won't be more than 1-2". They typically get wider as they get better. As mcolford and thejake1989 have done (under the cupholder in middle) will be your best bet. There's already a thin metal brace behind that plastic to which the CB bracket can grasp onto. I just drilled one screw in there and it has held up just fine. If you mount the CB to the ceiling, the mic cable will be hanging there and trust me, it get's annoying.

Awhile back, when I asked about CB mounting to roof, it was highly recommended to not do it. Said the roof on these trucks are not thick enough to get any type of mount there, and any screw would just go right through. Not sure if that was your plan, but just passing that info on, as it was to me.

I have a single cab as well, and was worried about leg room, so I found a console on Ebay, that has a spot for a cb mount. Works great, and it also has two cup holders.

Here's the thread. As you can see in the pics, the console has a little spot to mount the cb. Also has a little speaker for the CB. It's not the best quality, so if you were gonna use it, I would replace it with one of better quality. I went this way, b/c I needed a spot for water bottle/random things. I also mounted a coin holder on the side to place my spare change.

Much like Mcolford I found the best location without major mod's would be right here. and a nice location to mount the handset.
