considering selling? Talk me out of it
I wanna audi a4 or gmc 1500.........I'm sick of putting money into this thing, ball joints, pulleys, ac compressor, exh manifold is starting to tick, etc. etc. it has 305s and t bars cranked so it sags in the rear, that drives me nuts so I wanna lift the back theres another 100 bucks a pin stripe is crooked, 1 door is blistered up pretty bad, a buddy will paint the bottom for 350 and replace the door skin but then I have to find some pin stripe and stripe the whole truck since they discontinued that lower stripe I need and some idiot painted 1 bedside and taped off the stripe so I'll have a paintline I either have to stripe on or get the bed painted...since I can't just remove it...I'm just so sick of this kind of ****.....My parents just got a 03 gmc with a 5.3 and it rips...I'm sick of the 5.4 also....I mean my truck is really sharp looking and super comfortable, and its real nice inside and out especially for its age...its just the other stuff thats piling up that drives me nuts, can only do so much at a time........whats everybody else think? am I the only one who feels this way?
your going to be putting money in a vehicle eventually either way....
look at it this way. your truck is paid off. yes this little things that keep happening are annoying, and cost money, but they are cheaper than a new car note, are they not?
if you learn to do the tings yourself (not saying that you don't already) that's already a lot of money saved....
it's up to you whether you want to or not.

u want an audi??? so when it breaks down its gonna cost as much to fix one lil thing as much it cost to fix everthing u listed for your truck.. lol those really arent the most reliable or inexpensive cars too fix.. esp the older ones.. now the gmc.. while it may seem nice to have a newer vehicle wich appears to have no problems, keep in mind if you buy wich i assume u will, it will break down!!!! if your not leasing then expect to put money into it.. besides gms suck.. itll cost you jsut as much to keep that truck on the road even though it may not be RIGHT now..
i thought the same thing about my truck, getitng overwhelmed with how much i have to replace now, seeing as how i barely did anything to it for 4 years of pure abuse.. it does catch up eventually... but i realized after getting all the lose ends tied up how awesome of a truck it really is to have, plus its paid for!!!i know its easy to get flustrated and give up but if you stick it out and fix some things im sure you will come to appreciate the hard work in the end.. plus i think your truck is prettyslick, dont get rid of her, she'll miss you..lol

I owe on this one...less than its worth but I still owe, and I do everything myself...balljoints, etc. etc. Idk..it sucks. Things just wear on you. I suppose once I paint the bottom and lift the back and fix the clunking in the rear (wtf is it?) It'll be perfect...
I had an 01 tahoe with the 5.3L vortech and also at the moment own an 02 A6 with the 2.7T quattro. Still like my F150 the best, might be why its the 2nd f150 along with an expedition Ive owned. The most comfy to drive.
Rear end went out in the tahoe at 55k (was binding up and dragging one tire), 1500 dollar fix. Radiator leaked and needed replaced at 50k. I won't begin to talk about what the audi costs to fix. It only has 42k on it (super low) But already needs new front drive axles (boots are dried up and cracking) and a tune up. Needs a tranny flush also. Which I wont touch, audi dealership wants 1800 for a "tune up" turbos will need rebuilt and the infamous timing belt done at 100k. Another 2200 at audi. Will probably sell before it reaches 100k, maybe around 75-85... Just because of that. It's fast and comfy as hell.. gets around in bad conditions too... but way to expensive to work on and they need it more than anything.
Theres just something so american about the F150.. it's like when someone asks you what you like most about your wife on the spot.. and you freeze, you know you love her but you just cant think of the words why lol. The things your talking about are such little things.. cheap if you ask me. It really comes down to preference, I prefer ford over anything these days.

Keep the truck. You will be happier in the end. Look at it this way, You put all that work into it. Then you sell it and new owner doesnt take care of it. How are you going to feel? Show your pride in a job well done, keep it, show everyone what you can do.
The clunking in the back is probably a bad u-joint.
Why not say screw the pin striping and repaint the truck a different color.
I just dropped 6 grand into mine, just cause I was unhappy with the first SAS. I haven't drove it since October. I know how you feel about just gettin rid of it. But now that I got all my new parts and a totally different look I'm glad I didn't sell it.

I wouldn't sell it for the reasons listed. Pay now or pay later, you won't escape dumping money into any car or truck. Take good care of it and do preventative maintenance, she'll treat you good. There are a few notable problem areas with our trucks, 97-03, but after that, they're rock solid. I'm biased towards these trucks though.
First off dont buy a Gay Mans Chevrolet. If your back end is that much lower why dont you just lower the t-bars a little bit so you still have clearance for the tires and it sits a little more level, and trust me on this one my uncle owns an audi a4 and says he will never buy one again it costs more then its worth.
Then again him and I are also ford guys all the way.
In the end its your choice but you will regret selling after you do especially if you ahve put a lot of work into it.

One of my roomates has an a4 and its sick....but its a freaking car!!..come one...if u dont need a truck, then go for it, but please dont **** away money on a chevy/gmc...i would rather push my ford then drive a chevy....fix ur sag with a block that you can easily do urself and be happy
Ah....let's see you want us to talk you out of a stinking Chevy? That's a no brainer...ever heard of AAL's? Cheap and easy way to lift the back....and as far as the other take them one at a time and then you will have a real solid comfertable truck.
