Alignment gona cost more then i thought.

Well some of you may remember i was going to take my truck in for an alignment. Well i went down they got it up on the machine and brought me into the bay and showed me my upper driver side ball joint and lower passenger side ball joint where shot. They are shot!!!. So big o gives me an estimate to replace all 4 ball joints and they wanted almost 1,000... 987 bucks to be exact. Little ridiculous...

So i took it over to my mechanic and hes going to replace all my ball joints with stronger aftermarket ones. Put in all new bushings, and install a camber kit for 600 bucks. Hes also going to fix anything else he can find in there free of charge. Seems like a deal to me.

yea labor is what jacks it up so high.

what makes me mad is some places think there bad if theyre loose and i even had a smart guy at one shop tell me i installed a camber kit wrong when i followed fabtechs instructions for the washers. Said it was the reason they couldnt align it haha

Wow haha. I went in the bay and they shook the ball joint and it moved alot. I then later took it home and jacked my truck up and showed a buddy of mine who used to do alignments and he even saw how bad it was. O well 4 new ball joints will be nice and at least its 1 less thing i will have to worry about for awhile. And if these ****** tell me my camber kit is on wrong or something then i know there morons.

I read up on how to change them myself and I'm pretty sure i could do it but this is my daily driver and i don't really want to practice on it. I would rather just have it done professionally and learn on another vehicle that i don't depend on.

an alignment shop quoted me 40 bucks to put an idler arm on.. i only asked cause i was feeling lazy.. needless to say i did it myself, took 5 min.s at most..upper ball joints, if you get the whole control arm will take like 10min.s per side.. lowers, i still have to do mine so im not sure on how long those will take..
