2wd lockers

i don't know if this is the right place to post it but i think it will get more response here. so anyway im into the natural gas ford trucks and its hard to find a four wheel drive one that doesn't cost a bunch of money. anyways i don't play around in the trucks to much to really want a four wheel drive but i do go out to the sand dunes (not to play in the truck) and finding a place to camp by the sand kinda sucks cause im worried about getting stuck. what kinds of things would a locker improve in helping me in sand or snow or mud or whatever. or is this a losing battle and i need to start saving for a 4x4? and how do you guys that have 2wd trucks with lockers like them and what do they help with? thanks!!!!

A locker keeps both tires moving. This is imporant in mud, rocks and even sand. But the biggest factor in sand is tires. You want a tire that floats over the sand not one that digs. I prefer wider tires in sand cause they tend to spread the tire surface out and help prevent digging. I think out of the tires I've used in sand denman ground hawgs or super swamper trxus sts were the best by far.
