dent on inside panel of tailgate

Is there an easy way to pound out a dent on the inside of a tailgate, or do I need to buy a new one? It looks like someone may have put something heavy on it, causing it to bend near the bottom. I would like to straighten it so I can use a tailgate seal, making it water-tight with my tonneau cover.

I got a seal when I did mine and after a bit it came off from being rubbed on but I still havn't had any water issues in that area, so I say don't worry about it unless you are having an issue.

I have had water in there before, not much, but enough to make the bed wet. I'm going to try pushing the dent out through the removable panel. There is a big gap when the tailgate is closed, especially toward the middle.

a photo would help alot.. I put weights in the bed of mine and they were moving around the bed and when they slid to the tail gate they dented it out pretty bad.. Still have to fix it although my idea was to drill 2 holes mounting steel in it and try pulling it out OR use like a jack to force it out.
