iirc they can be adapted easily. might have to get connectors from a yard and run an extra wire.

worst case scenario is just running one wire for the power wire.

You could buy the glass with the LEDs in them, but the glass without the mirror base is like 250 per side with the LED turn signals embedded.

If you end up replacing the whole mirror, I would love to take your factory ones off your hands

thought the ford turn signal mirrors were signals on the sides of the plastic sides of the mirrors not in the glass

If my memory serves - 1999-2000 body style lariats got the turn signal embedded in the glass, 01 and up got the turn signal pods on the outside of the mirror housings.

Some of the trucks from the first half of 2001 may have that turn signal in the glass as well - I know the first half of the model year didn't experience the interior changes the second half did. Their are supercrews running around with two different interior types - old style (one piece front seats, older dash model) and new style (two piece seats front and rear, newer dash without any pockets in it)

For the record...Muth supplied the 99-00 mirrors with LED's in the glass on Lariats and EBauer Expy's and the silver backing was defective. Muth will replace for free any mirrors that are defective, just contact them. They will charge your CC but refund when the defective mirrors arrive. Ford went to the pod/nipple on the outside of the mirror to solve the problem.

FWIW, I just put an '02 door on my '99 Lariat. The harness in the new door had a 5-wire connector for the mirror (which was just standard electric) so I'd say your wiring is likely there. Muth sells a conversion kit with just the signal glass. You remove the mirror, pop out the old glass, fish in the signal control wire, and pop in the new signal glass.
