LED Tail lights

I just picked these up on Ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-...Q5fAccessories

I was wondering for the reverse bulb, should i go with a Sylvania Silverstar 3156 (standard style) or a LED Tower bulb like these http://superlumination.com/3157_3156.htm.
I have 15% tint all around including over the stock privacy tint on the rear and side windows. Just wondering what would give me the best lighting when backing up?

The tails will be tinted black with nite shades, but leaving the reverse portion clear.

those tails are pretty nice. id maybe do one coat over the reverse to blend them and go with the leds for sure.

the reverse lights arent really designed to light up the road when backing up at night but as a warning for other cars, so if you really want more light reverse fogs are the way to go imo

Thanks, ya i wanted an LED that looked as close to OEM as possible. I thought about going one coat over the reverse but I like the higher contrast without it.

I hate you. Those look awesome! If I had only $40 more, I would buy those too. But I'm just waiting for nicer weather to finish tinting my tails.

i have the exact same lights. i went with the sylvania silver stars for the reverse bulbs because every LED i put in there just wasnt bright enough. those sylvanias will light up more than enough for you. i can see through my 5% tint with them.

I would also go ahead and order either some load balancers or a new blinker relay because they will hyperflash. i didnt think they had that problem before i ordered them, but they do. and believe me that fast blinking gets annoying quick.

Why not just buy the ones that are already tinted? Recon sells them.

Thanks guys. I didn't go with Recon because I liked the look of these better, smaller clear area. Thanks MmmBuckles, I think I'll go with the Silverstars too. I was curious about the LED tower, but for $27.99 each that's a little steep!

I started with the load balancers, but they kept overheating because i had them on the brake/blinker. Then i went to the relay, works well and i took the load equalizers out. Only thing that doesnt work now is the 4 way emergency flashers......

I HATE spastic blinkers...so yeah. Where did you get the relay from? What about these... http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...rake-turn.html... the LED flasher down at the bottom?

Well it's about time this thread delivered. I had to wait for some warm weather without wind. Smoked them this weekend. Taped off the reverse lights, 2 coats, removed tape and sprayed one light coat. followed these steps here https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...ne-56k-no.html

don't mind the finger smudges. this was just a test fit and make sure they LEDs could be seen with the Nite-Shades. The EP27 flasher is on the way!
