Im doing it!!
10-4 jbrew i appreciate the input...im afraid that the truck is in the shop getting all 4 removed right now, by getting to dyno tuned what all does that entail do you know? and would a chip fix that? or do i have to take it somewhere? Man im so thankful for this website and the help i get....cause jeez if it wasnt for this site, and the fact that ive done all the work on my truck....id probably be up in the thousands in repairs! THANKS F150 ONLINE!
FYI - Factory cats are fetching $200 at the salvage yards, - Specially 97 converters!! Big bucks for those lol !!
Thing to do is sell your old ones for around $200, then purchase NEW High Flow Cats for around 160. That's what I did anyway. Your going to have problems with that truck now, you'll see lol. That one will cost yuh.
Good Luck.
like i posted in exhuast forum it didnt get done today but i have an apointment for tom, so should i just the back 2? thats what i wanted first but the mech said if any were clogged it would be the front 2 and i thought the back 2 made it sound better so i said sure do all four....hes a really old guy and you really cant tell him any different ya kno...lol

I run LT headers now and a Magnaflow set up, but I have to say, that old set up sounded better. Just didn't have the low end I needed to pull my car hauler.
BTW- Anyone who runs without cats isn't going to tell you the bad in that. The only gains are @ WFO w/factory tune. I don't know about you , but I don't drive wide open everywhere I go lol. You can have both ,-good sound and performance, -if you do it right. Having a loud slug of a truck will get old. It will get annoying just keeping up with traffic, you'll need just about everything she's got to do so with no low end lol.

I had removed the cats on my 4.6 F-150... Sounded great and was louder at all RPMs. Performance was good at all RPMs. Never towed heavy with it like that though. The annoying part was that the check engine light was constantly coming on, so I was always clearing it with my Edge.

Guess I started getting use to how crappy it was running, -when I finally got around to reworking the exhaust again, -it felt like a different truck after.
It's allot different now, -LT's HF's and a somewhat quiet exhaust; -so far, she's pulled everything I put behind her without a complaint, just a nice little low end roar lol.
BTW- I have a 5.4L, so maybe it's different in some way without cats. Kinduh doubt it.

well after the gutting of just the back 2 cats and changing wires and plugs, problem gone! YES FINALLY lol its funny i i almost wait for it to hesitate and jump like it use to but no more sounds great too....i usually never get above 2500rpms unless i need to.....thanks for all the help yall sound GRRRRREEEEEAT like frosted flakes!
It was probably just the plugs!
I would be careful using anything other than throttle body cleaner for doing that. You have sensors in there that can be ruined by other cleaning products.
BUT seafoam is not snake oil it works great for what it's intended to. As a boat owner I strongly believe in using it in my oil and gas tank.

This is an F150 Ford Truck forum, not a boat forum.

You don't know what you talking about AGAIN lol, as to the Throttle Body and Elbow. If you want to learn something, look it up on this in the "How To" section and cut it out with the bad info, we are here to help, not compromise.
