Anti-Theft Question
Anti-Theft Question
Hello to all fellow F150 owners. I own a 2001 Ford F150 Flareside V8 and I have fallen in love with my truck. I find something strange about it though. My truck starts with no problem whatsoever, but my Theft light stays on in my dash even when my trucks is parked and key is not in the ignition. It never goes out but it doesnt give me a problem. My key is a programmed key however it is the only key I own. Should I be worried about this or is this normal?
The THEFT light is supposed to blink about once per second when the truck is off. When you start the engine, the light should come on for 2-3 seconds, then go out until the system is next turned off.
With only one key, yes, you should be worried. If you loose it, you're looking at several hundred dollars to get back on the road. With only one key on hand, you're still looking at a hundred to get two spares unless you cheat (which will cost $3).
