Minor little issues

Working on getting those little imperfections that bug the hell out of you every time you see them

First off, there are a few spots on the dash area that are chipped, was wondering how i should go about getting paint for them, stopped at the Ford dealership, and was told they can't get touch up paint for it, which didn't surprise me:

I also have this small scrape on the glove box door, i doubt it is repairable, but maybe someone has something in mind:

Just recently my running boards have gotten some rust spots on them, not surprisingly with the salty roads and chrome finish they have, nevr-dull doesn't do to bad, but there are actually pin holes where the rust is, which is weird because there was no sign of it a month or two ago. It is only like that on the driver side in a small little area:

Also, anyone have any idea what this button/light looking thing would do? Doesn't seem to operate anything from what i can tell and i haven't taken time to follow the wires to see where it leads to:

How expensive is expensive? And yeah, i knew it was aftermarket, just not sure what it is for, it appears to be a light above the button which i find quite strange.

i had found some spray cans of it for like 10 or 20 each but it was 10 dollar shipping so i decided to paint it black. search your paint code on google.

and that looks like an alarm indicator or maybe just an led indicator for the button

Yeah, but it really bugs me and if touch up paint is all it takes to fix it, then I'm all for it

Just going to have to figure my paint code out.

I have a '99 that has a similar light in that location (In my case, the light itself is a button). It is aftermarket, but was part of the Ford factory alarm installed the day after I bought the truck new at the dealer. I can use it to put the alarm in and out of "Valet mode". I also have a button that is mounted under the dash that is used to program the alarm system (turning the chirp on/off) etc. Maybe they mounted your button there instead of under the dash???

It never seems to be lit up though? Maybe I'll have to go mess with it today and see where exactly the wires lead to.

Do you have a Ford alarm (I think they are made by Code Alarm) that uses a Ford key fob? I know if I set my alarm off, and I turn they key on and push the button, it will silence the alarm and allow me to start the truck. My light used to flash when the alarm was armed, but doesn't light up anymore either. I tried to find a replacement, but couldn't find the same exact one.

My key fob has lock, unlock, and panic. I'm not sure if it has the alarm system, i went out to do a few things and completely forgot to check out the switch...I'll have to go back out and see what i find.

any flareside or screw step pad will work, you'll have to paint it to match though..

Yeah, it's the step pad Jake.

Don't think it's possible to get a new one from a site that sells OEM parts that is the correct color? ...this is disappointing, maybe i can find a junk yard with one.
