1st winter with a truck...Question?
So this is the first time ive owned a truck, and the use of 4x4. When i have it in 4x4 high, and go into a parking lot...it seems very difficult to turn into a parking spot. Is this normal when doing tight turns in 4x4?
Please help a noob.

DO NOT use 4x4 on ANY dry non slip surface. You will create binding in your drivetrain. This is what you are feeling, no doubt. 4x4 should only be used on a surface that allows for "SOME" slipping that will naturally occur as you turn the front wheels.
It's normal, but also hard on your truck. You may want to take your truck out of 4x4 before turning sharply into parking spaces. When your driving straight the front wheels turn at the same speed as the rear wheels, but when you turn the rear wheels make a smaller circle and they spin slower. That is what causes the binding in your drive train.
Yea, shift on the fly is awesome, just select 2wd before hand, before a hard turn, but not while she's binding. Gradual turning on dry won't hurt it, so it's not like you have to keep going back and forth, - ALL the time, just be in 2wd on a sharp 90 degree.
Don't even worry about low, you'll most likely never need it. Only time I every used low was to pull two Chevy and a GMC out of a mud hole. The GM back up to pull the Chevy and ended up stuck as well lol. So, had to pull them both at once, I just washed the truck, she would of gottin twice as muddy , one at a time

thanks for the input...we got about 10" of snow yesturday, so its been fun. im only using the 4H on snow covered roads, and 2 on the highways since they are decently clear. ill just have to pay attention to parking lot manuvers.
