Painted Dash
I have a the tan interior (Medium Parchment is what Ford calls it, I think), and some of the dash panels are painted that color. On one of the panels the paint is starting to peal off. Has anyone repainted there dash the factory tan color? If so how was the color match, what brand did you use? and did it last without peeling off in a week?
Thanks David

I've painted mine parts of mine green to match the truck for a accent inside. Sand down good, add adhension promotor, primer, color, and then clear coat. Had mine on for two years now and no peeling
I have the grey interior, but the Dealership actually sells interior spray paint cans. I bought a can to paint the pillar for my gauges and it is an absolute perfect match. Even when you compare it side by side to the stock moulded gray pillar, you can not tell the new pillar was painted with a rattle can. It has lasted well over 8 years without fading or other incident. I can't say enough about how perfect a match it is. I can only imagine any color from the dealer will end with the same results. I wouldn't try it any other way.
Thanks for the info, I only have one question. Do you remember if it was a factory ford paint? Or was the dealer selling an aftermarket paint? Because Im sure the dealer will charge 2x the price of anywhere else.
It was a factory Ford paint. Came in a normal size rattle can with a Ford label. I don't remember the price but I also don't remember it being overpriced enough to catch my attention. I also don't remember caring since it was such a quality job. Don't cheap out dude...suck it up and do it right. If you do a cheap job on an interior paint job, it will stand out. If the dealer is twice the price of Autozone on a can of paint, you're still out what, under $20? Tax returns are coming!
Lol you have to of had a job in the last year! Im in college... all of my work in the past year has been under the table. I don't mind paying for a quality job, but If I can get the same product somewhere else cheaper... im going too.
Any luck finding your Medium Parchment paint? I need to touch up mine as well, especially around the radio surround.
What prep work did you guys do? I'm thinking sanding will take away the grain, so maybe a Scotchbrite pad with some good cleaner?

Have you check SEM selections? SEM 17053 - Medium Parchment (Ford) Classic Coat should be correct color. Just make sure that you'll do your prep work (adhesion promoter, primer) prior applying it.

Let me know where you end up getting your paint from and how much you paid
Thanks David
Thanks guys. Seems like once it started peeling, it just came off in big flakes, like htere was a lack of adhesion to the dash. You can see by the vent it look whitesh under the paint.
It's going to be PITA to fix and I'll need to wait until it warms up probably.

Wow! I've never seen peeling like that before on our generation trucks, especially in that area. Is this some what common? Mine does have a few chipped spots up on the upper dash, passenger side close to the windshield. Basically in that little tray part on the upper dash. I guess it happened to due to sun light, but it doesn't appear to have gotten any worse.
I ordered a can of medium parchment from Late Model Restoration, and it came out a little too dark on my test sprays. I think I bought parchment as well, and that color was too light.
I will say that the vinyl prep and the SEM paint were the most forgiving rattle cans I have ever used. The vinyl prep softens the plastic a bit for good adhesion, and the SEM paint needs to be sprayed HEAVY to get full coverage, smooth texture, and the correct color. I was worried it would run, but you just keep laying it on, and the drying time is fast as well. I'd be willing to re-spray my entire interior at $15/can if i could reliably pinpoint my color.
I've got to repaint my tailgate and while I'm picking up the paint this weekend, I'm going to see if the paint store can match the dash surround. They carry SEM products but I don't know if they can custom make a SEM product.
Might get some leather seat color while I'm there as well.
