I have a 98 f150 xlt 4x4, wondering how I tell if I have wireless door locks? Bought the vehicle used but never came with the key faubs. Is there a way to tell whether it has them. I would like to get a faub for it if possible. Can I program a faub or does the dealer have to?

 

I don't think the xlt came with remote entry. One way you can tell easily, Is to turn the key from the off position to the on position five times. Do this in a smooth even repetitions , taking maybe 5 to 7 seconds. When you do this, the doors should lock, then unlock. That is when it is in the program mode. You would then press the unlock button on the FOB, then the doors would lock, unlock again. You then turn the key off, and the program is completed.

 

My son in law has a 98 Lariat and it has remote locks.
