A little confused

I plan on changing my tranny fluid, filter and while I was at it I was also gonna do the transfer case. What I'm confused about is
1 about how much fluid should I buy for the tranny? I'm just changing the fluid that comes out in the pan.

2 I've read that the transfer case takes the same fluid as the tranny (owners manual says Mercon V) but, also in the owners manual it says the transfer case takes Mercon. Can Mercon V be used in the transfer case instead of Mercon?

Oh and the truck is 2002 f150 fx4 4X4 with the 4R70W

I know it's probably an easy answer just don't want to get confused and put the wrong fluid in.

Yes, you can and should use Mercon V in the TC.

Just a pan drop on a 4R70 takes 5 quarts. If you are going to drop the pan, replace the filter. However, the best way to service the tranny is a complete fluid replacement using a machine.
