Carrying the Spirit of Raptor

Well as we all know Raptors 99+ front end swap will not deliver

so im doing my own.

i should be picking up this bumper next weekend

and since i also have to get a new grille and surround ive been looking at two on ebay buy it now.

My options are a stock honeycomb (75) which i can order immediately or i could go with a stock lightning grille (155) which would have to wait a while.

im not sure if i want to spend 150 on a lightning grille to have it sit behind my light bar and lights. what do yall think??

Jake

Well idk if I want to do the lightning since it won't be seen really. I could do a Patman. I'd have to try and convince pat to come to college station that way I wouldn't have to drive to Dallas haha

I want to do the Lightning swap on my Expedition, but the Lightning grille as a package is a bit steep. I noticed that there is currently on eBay a Lightning insert only. So, it might be worth it to get a regular grille and then buy the Lightning insert.

Well I need to get both the grille and surround and the inserts I saw were 150 (auction) for both upper and lower but the one with surround was 150 itself.

Here's the insert I was talking about clicky

Get that and this clicky and you'd be ahead.

Or go with a PTM one, which would probably suit your truck better...

I myself don't like the lightning grilles enough to replace what I find to be a really nice grille in the honeycomb. A 2000 Harley grille though............ different story!

For that year of truck, there are only 2 grilles that I would consider. The Harley or a Patman PTM. Those just look "right" to me.

I like uninterrupted flow lines with color. In fact, I like all one color with little chrome, no badges or decals. With a paint to matc grille, as you look at the front, it flows if all one color. The black would be ok, but it looks as if it is just stuck in there. that is just my opinion, and what I like. You have to do what you like.

what ever happened to painting the hood? Did you decide against it? I say if you're doing the swap now you should go for it!
