Clean your trailer plug harness. Then replace ABS fuse.

For the last several years, the most common reason for blowing the brake light fuse has been the fiasco that resulted in the speed control recall (05S28). If it is fuse F13 that has been blowing, you'd better pay attention to this warning and take steps to keep your truck from burning to the ground if the recall hasn't been done. This is NOT an idle warning.

When F13 blows, you loose the shifter interlock release in addition to your brake lamps. You have to follow the procedure in the owner's manual to override the interlock. See my signature if you need an owner's manual.

If you haven't heard of the recall, plug the above number into the SEARCH engine. There are probably hundreds of posts about it going back around 5 years. There also a tool on Ford's Owner site for recall lookup by VIN. http://genuineservice.com/genuineser...ault?page=Home

Thank you for your response. I sent you a message and it is in fact the #13 fuse and prior to reading this , i replaced melted wires and and they getting hot again. There is no recall under my VIN# but my truck was made in Canada,,(does that matter?) Also, my owners manual does not show how to bypass this interlock,, Can someone point me in the direction to a step by step process for this please,,, my Haynes Book does not help either.

Yes, the owner's manual DOES have shift interlock bypass instructions.

Post your questions in the open forum, I don't read PMs.

Follow my earlier suggestion regarding finding specifics about the recall even though the lookup tool doesn't show yours as being open.

I also disconnected the speed sensor.. Do you have any other ideas as to why this keeps locking and deading my brake lights??
