It's definately a 5.4L. I might not be smart enough to know why the intake is so monsterous, but I know what my motor is... I spoke directly with Ford, and they told me that it could be because my truck was born Jan. 30th, 1997, during the transition from old to new style, or sometimes high dollar customers special order specific parts. Either way, she said just stick with people I know who know the truck- so I guess Brandywine Parts will be my permanent source for this truck.

the lightning never came into production until 1999. I don't see how they could ever "special order" a motor/drivetrain over a year early.
