my light bar dont light up :(

so I got a light bar from Recon and im pretty sure I followed all of the instructions, but when I plugged it into my trailer lights and turned on my lights or hit the brake it didnt do anything. I do have the one that for the turn signals it will "scan" to the side. and that came up with 2 wires off the light bar- red and white. i did like they said and hooked the white one to the red/black wire on the reverse so the reverse would light up on the bar. they didnt say to do anything with the red wire.

PLUS!!!!: i put the bar at the bottom of the cross piece where id think and where they said to put it and my tailgate hits it everytime I put it down

can someone help me? i know theres ppl out there that have hooked these damn things up before.

do you have the light itself grounded? I find it hard to picture your light right now. Mine does l/r turn signals, brake, solid light and 4way. It also has 5 wires. one standard power for the light, one for left turn, one for right, one for reverse and a ground wire. Everything hooked up to the trailer harness. I would call recon and ask them how many wires are supposed to be on the light, and how its supposed to do all said features with just 2 wires. if they tell you that 2 is the proper amnt, ask em why its not doing anything. The only other thing I can see is that you have a fault in your trailer wiring. do you have a trailer you can hook up to to see if the lights work?

As far as the light hitting the tailgate, did you take the gate off when you installed the light? You maay not be flush with the bottom of the bed. I had that problem with mine when i first installed it.
