Changing the fuel filter

Truck just hit the 94,000 miles and just dawned on me that the I haven't ever had the fuel filter changed. I've never been much of a mechanic but I am handy and my neighbor convinced me that we could change out the fuel filter ourselves a lot cheaper. Went to O'riellys bought a filter and a plastic fuel line disconnect tool. The tool they sell doesn't work or I'm not smart enough to figure it out. What kind of tool do you use so I can get one that I know will work?

Thanks

Dan

This is in our Articles and How To section and should help. It is the same for your truck.

If you have the blue clip, you may want to read this as well.

Also, do yourself a favour and put a Motorcraft fuel filter in there. Some people have had issues with the aftermarket ones.

Why would a pump fail after a fuel filter change? Just curious, never heard that.
