2001 F-150 supercrew 4x4 5.4L...periodically wouldnt idle on cold starts, but would pick up after holding pedal down to make it idle..now it wont idle at all but it will start and the exhaust smells like it has more gasonline in it

 

it was idle air valve..thanks for all the help

 

I'm sorry you did not get any help on your question. That is highly unusual. It must have been at a time when no one was on that felt competent enough to advise. Also, it might have drawn more attention in the Engine forum.
