2003 f150 4wd problem

Hello, everyone.I have a 2003 ford f150 4X4,and the front axles don't engage when I shift into 4wd.It is a MSOF system. When I shift into 4WD H,or L,the indicator light comes on,but the front axles don't engage.A buddy climbed under the truck, and had me put it in 4WD,and slowly move the truck forward, then backwards, and he said that the shaft going to the front differential moves fine, telling me that the transfer case is ok.Any idea what could be wrong? Thank you. Rich

you have a problem with the vacuum engauge solinoids behind the battery. Look for broken disconected vacuum lines if there are none you'll have to test the system I know the directions for that are located in the drivetrain section. Do a search.
