Is this a good deal?

Hello everyone! I am very new to the board and even newer to Ford trucks. I am in the market for a decent 4x4 truck for under $10,000. I found a 2001 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 with 103,xxx. It has a 6" fab-tech lift with 37x13.50-16. When I test drove it, it drove surprising well. I figured it would be a bear to drive. When I was on the freeway I let go of the wheel and it didn't pull to the left or right, when I was doing 35-40 mph and hit the brakes hard it didn't pull left or right, and the motor wasn't making any noises when I popped the hood and took alook around. The interior had 4-5 cigarette burns in the back seating area and was slighty dingy. It seemed alittle sluggish when acclerating but it wasn't really more than I expected with the 37's and what seems like a stock engine. Is there anything I should be concerned about? The asking price is $9000. I did a carfax on it and it did have 3 previous owners, first being a corporate lease for 2 yrs 7 months, second a personal owner for 4 yrs 4 months, and third a personal owner for 1 yr 3 months. Clean title. I appreciate you taking a look. Thanks for your opinions. I hope to be a Ford Truck guy soon!

Seems like a reasonable price. 37s put a lot stress on vehicle however, so it would probably be a good idea to go through teh entire drive train with fine tooth comb. What kind of shape are tire in? They aren't going to be cheap to replace, if needed.

Yea you definitely want to take things like tires in consideration, and make sure they regeared for the 37s. 106 thousand miles is a little high but as long as it was taken care of it'll last well past that. Overall sounds like a good deal to me.

IMO, be cautious of the transmission with that combo of mileage and tires.

I've bought a few cars in my day and my experiance has been.. Buy your truck from a guy who has not modded it in anyway. Buy garage kept. Buy from guys who are absolutely **** about the vehicles maintenance.. Buy from rich people. You do most of this and you'll get an excellent truck and you can be surprised at the deals that are out there if you take your time and all. Never fall in love at first sight. Always look at several different ones..

I was looking at a truck with a lift and tires just like mine but white but i decided to go with mine because its all stock becuause you never know somethin that doesnt show when u drive but will when u buy it later on. Stock is the way to go becasue u never know how the person before you drove it like.. so id say no...

Agreed. I'd always be wary of buying a lifted/modded rig. Who knows where/how it's been driven.

Btw, has the speedo been recalibrated for the larger tires? Because if not you may have a fair bit more than 103k on that rig depending on how long it's been running oversize tires.
