4x4 doesnt dis-engage
4x4 doesnt dis-engage
So i just got back from getting my 4x4 fixed, well simi fixed.
Hopefully someones pretty knowledgable about this stuff...
The diaphram i think its called engages IE it turns 4x4 on but it doesnt dis-engage, so its constantly locked in but when you shift out of 4x4 its still locked in, just no power goes to the front wheels.....
Anyone have a clue? Also it doesnt display 4x4 or anything either, is the dis-engaging solenoid bad?

I dont understand what you mean? isnt it supposed to disengage when you shift back into 2wd? Basically whats going on is its stuck in 4x4 just no power goes to the wheels unless i put it in 4x4.
Cant really understand the 4x4 light not working either, althought it does say low range when you put it in low range.

mainly with the older 4wd's, after you have it in 4w and switch back to 2w, it is necessary to reverse direction to unlock the hubs. Today, even with my shift on the fly, after having it in 4LO (and had switched back to 2wd) I had to stop and reverse to disengage
I was referring to the front hub locking system. I, like you, am still learning these new(er) 4wd's since I haven't had one in a while, but from a former 89-90 4wd ranger I had, even after disengaging the front wheels it would still feel like it was engaged until the reverse/forward to disengage the hubs.
