Ok guys...One more week of school, then maybe i'll have a little more time to work on my truck over the break! I have a couple thousand to spend . I'm having trouble making a decision as to what i want to do for sure first thing. I've been back and forth as to what i want to do forsure, but I end up getting careied away with it and before i kno it, I'm spending way to much. Here are things i want to do, in what order would you suggest.....
97 4.6
Ok...I know that i want a CAI, LT's(whats a good/reasonably priced set), transgo kit, programmer, shocks(maybe bilstiens), gears 4.88's or 4.56's, but leaning big time 4.88's (i can't get these done until this next summer...so prolly about 5 months or so), synthetics (but not gonna do the diffs until i regear, bc it seems like a waste), I have a, i think, the idler pulley squealin a little, so might as well get a underdrive pulley kit too while i'm working on that.

So what do you think is the best, or in what order do you think i should get these done?
I've thought about gettin canned tunes for it, but i don't know how long it will take to get all this done. I don't wanna have to buy a new tune everytime i add something.

After all this, if im still not satisfied, ill look into pi heads.

I would go with 4.88's and a shift kit. Then a sct programmer for a forced induction setup. Don't waste money on headers and a UD pulley kit.

Forced induction would be nice, but don't kno if that will ever be feasible. Why do you say don't waste money on a pulley kit and LT?

i think gears should be at the top of the list - seeing as how you have bigger tires and how you could have benefited from them with stock size tires!
i don't think long tubes are a waste. especially if you got them first then get a PHP gryphon with a custom tune for them. but with long tubes you'd need high flows too. meaning more even money

Are you lifted or on stock tires? I'd do 4.56s on stock tires and 4.88s if your lifted..my uncle has 4.56s on 285s and says its perfect. These trucks could use some gear.

What I mean is. By the time you spend the money on all those small things, youcould have almost paid for a supercharger. Which would have given you way more power anyway.

Why would forced induction not be feasible?

are you kidding me?

I did long tubes and UDP's for ~$800

you are looking at minimum $3000 for a used reliable forced induction setup.

If you have the ability I would recommend a PI 5.4 swap with a tune. Would be the best bang for the buck by far. Then start your gears/bolt ons which ever you choose.

I did all my bolt ons (FULL bolt on) for about $2100-$2200. $650 for headers, $650 for cat back, $100 for efans, $125 UDP's, $400 SCT, Intake with K&N $65, Throttle body $125.

Nah, I'm leveled with 305/70's but i'm lookin at going to 315/75's (35) thats the reason i wanna go to 4.88's. I need i'd guess like a 4.10 right know prolly, but it would be 4.88's on 33's for a while. plus i want a little more torque.

I don't kno of anywhere i can get a supercharger for this cheap? I'm in college, don't kno if i can spare that much money.

btw...Nice truck! Thought about puttin 315's on it?
I've honestly considered a 5.4 swap and it's still not off the table. I just can't imagine that would be any more affordable.

I'm gonna put some PI heads on it too prolly, that will be 70+ hp bc the raised compression. did you get a CAI for $65?

the 33s fill out the wheel wells just the way i like it. You would be wasting your time with putting PI heads on there. If you want a wicked bang for the buck mod put in some PI cams advanced 4 degrees into your npi heads.

You should be able to get a decent 5.4 in there tuned for under $2000. figure $800 for the motor. Intake gaskets $100. exhaust fabbed up $100. Tuning $400-$500. Still leaves you $500 for odds and ends along with other money for bolt ons

intake....

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try that intake, $15...sweet!

I haven't seen any 99+ 5.4 motors/intake for $900?
I'm just gonna try to get what i can out of my 4.6, unless i could
infact, get everything (parts) i need for less than $1000.

I'll have to fix it up make it look neater one of these days but here it is......I probly need to cut the pvc down to about 3.75 inches....

I can tell a difference in the throttle response i think some and i can def tell it sounds better maybe a little torqier on highway too, but haven't really drove it too much.
Thanks for the info! I gotta get a K&N filter now!

PS. That cupler was a trick n a half to get on! it took me about 45 min for everything tho and i think $11, so not too bad.
