Question pinging/rattling problem

well im back again. i own a 2000 f150 5.4 and it has an octane knock. i know its an octane knock because i put 93 in and the pinging/rattling went away. i tried a can of BG44K(26 bucks) and that really didnt do much. then i tried seafoam(in gas and vacuum line and got zero smoke) and im about threw 75% of the tank and nothing. so what my question is is that if i go and get the motorvac service done(dealer said $150) will this get rid of the pinging? im running out of ideas and need some help.

thanks

I'm having the same problem w/ my 2002. Just had all new Motorcraft plugs and COP's installed in July of 09. I have tried running premium gas w/ no help {all I could find where I live is 91 octane.Have not tried 93 as of yet.} I have used seafoam etc. w/ no luck. could this service your talking bout be worth it?

That sounds kinda expensive for a motorvac - shop around. BG is just as good.

Whether it does or not, it's a very good idea to have it done at least every 100k. I do it when I change the plugs.

I recommend the bg treatment. If your spark knock is being caused by carbon buildup on the pistons than bg will help a lot. Now if it's a timing or overheating issue it won't help.
